Modern Traditions

The amazingly beautiful Sumeer, just turned 16, and wanted photos as a reminder of this special time. We met early on a Saturday morning at beautiful Balboa Lake in Van Nuys, California.
Sumeer in a traditional Sari, brought from India by her father.

I couldn't have asked for a more lovely young lady to photograph. She was a natural in front of the camera and needed very little coaxing to bring out her warm, natural look.

Sumeer poses on a bridge in the early morning hours

We opted to shoot the traditional look first, since the makeup was more dramatic and the clothes were not as comfortable to move around the park. Sumeer admits she never wears this much makeup, and frankly, she was a bit uncomfortable with it on, but my MUA Annette did an extraordinary job bringing out Sumeer's natural features. And by the way, those are her real eyelashes.

I told her to gave her eyes away from the camera

I was glad we chose to shoot early in the day, because at 10am it was almost 100 degrees, and my model and crew were starting to melt under the blaring sun. This is one of the last shots we took.
